Points of interest no 2: Ani: The ghost city of 1001 Churches.

The next point of interest is an ancient city which is now abandoned, it lays on the Millitarised zone between Turkey and Armenia, in an area which has been said is more dangerous than Iraq at the present time. It is called the City of 1001 Churches, or Ani.  At one time it had 200,000 residents, but no one has lived there for 300 years, Between Earthquakes, Mongol Invasions and Armenian Turkish conflict, now oly a few buildings remain standing, but they are magnificent churches and cathedrals that have withstood the test of time. Although we don't expect to see many people in this area, it will be interesting to see these historical buildings in the so called Ghost town, and could be interesting running into the Turkish Millitairy.. I have also read rumors that the city is now fairly guarded and photographers are not aloud to point their cameras towards Armenia. also rumors of Kurdish Terrorists...

So if we arnt getting shot at by the Turks, the Armenians or the Kurds... could be a beautiful place to take some photos.
